Everybody knows that windows, show-windows and glass doors are places most open to injury from the point of view of safety of buildings. Usual sheet building glass doesn't protect a premise from breaking and entering. Small splinters with keen edges are formed because of its destruction that quite often leads to accidents.
To safe concerning of protection against accidents it is possible to carry the tempered glasses, and also the glass reinforced by a steel wire. However the tempered glasses don't protect from breaking and entering. Protective properties of the reinforced glass are low. Reinforcing not only doesn't raise mechanical durability of the glass, but even reduces it approximately in 1, 5 times.
Multilayered glasses are more reliable from through punching, but their constructions are twice heavier than a single-layered glazing that is an additional load on frames, hinges, accessories, and high-quality photopolymers used for their manufacture cause their high cost.
A determinant at a choice of type of glazing is reliability and profitability. We will be frank — a film protecting glass from breaking doesn't exist in the nature. Doesn't exist practically. At least,
the intellectuals — developers from the American national space association (NASA) are the closest to the solution of a problem— color of the American science. Probably, you will be surprised, but their concrete developments underlie of the protective films offered today the consumer by a group of companies «LVI».
The safety film is a multilayered system combining strong sensitive glue and elastic polyester layer. Replacement of glasses isn't required as films can be installed on the most mass in Russia glass so-called «a vertical extract». The film is installed on already existing glazing, doesn't demand modernization and such glazing surpasses triplex in durability. There is a considerable quantity of multipurpose films.
Durability of these films on rupture reaches 24 kg/mm2, (a steel 3 — to 27 kg/mm2), and lengthening at rupture to 170 % (a steel 3 — only 2—3 %). Even in extreme service conditions physic-mechanical and optical characteristics of films by the end of warranty period practically don't change and, actually, their service life makes not less than 20 years.
As for comparison strenthening characteristics of the glasses laminated by a film they give in to exact measurements. Tests on automobile trimplexes are made by a method of blow by a ball, thus trimplex must bear a blow from 18, 9 J to 27, 6 J. The tests spent at the Institute of steel in February, 2000, show that architectural glass of 4 mm with the film established on it 112 microns bears a blow with an energy of 20,4 J that is equal to durability of trimplex 4-1-4.
It is necessary to tell that by means of films it is possible to create an effect of one-sided visibility, to eliminate a leak of information from a premise on acoustic, optical and radio-frequency channels.
