Requirements and admissible tinting’s norms
This question is regulated by State Standard Specification (GOST) 5727-88 "Safety glass for surface transport. The general specification". It talk that visible light transmittance of:
- windshields of vehicles and trams should be 75 %, not less;
- glasses of the front doors and front lateral glasses - 70 %, not less
- other glasses, glass cover of a roof of cars, the hatch of the roof, shading strips in the top part of a windshield (but no more than 25 mm from the upper edge) aren't normalized.
Check of window glasses on tinting.
Visible light transmittance can be checked only by special device. Pay attention that this instrument should pass annually special check, have the certificate and a seal with check date. If not it won’t be difficult to prove the innocence and to null results of check.
Who can check up tinting?
There is an opinion if checkup is passed it doesn’t carp at you. This is error. The state automobile inspector with this special device has the right to "examine" your glasses and to make out the fine.
Which the fine for tinting is?
The size of the fine makes 100 roubles (art.12.5 part 1 of Administrative Deliquency Code of the Russian Federation). Since 23rd September 2010 - 500 roubles (art.12.5 part 3.1 of Administrative Deliquency Code of the Russian Federation). If your glasses aren’t tinting in accordance with GOST, and you don't wish to "feed" constantly traffic police it is necessary to think about correction of this defection.
